I absolutely love Chai tea especially because of the healing herbs that feature in it. As you know by now, I like to alter the status quo sometimes and create my own blends of gorgeous, healing recipes and here’s one. This is calming, nourishing, hormone balancing and totally delicious.
Ingredients
- 1 cup rooibos tea (also known as redbush tea
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1-inch fresh ginger root, chopped
- 8 cloves
- 3 cardamom pods
- 4 black peppercorns
- ½ cup coconut milk (any other plant milk such as almond, hemp works)
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- 1 date or 1 tsp maple syrup/honey (optional)
Method
- Crush the cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and peppercorns in a pestle and mortar, or a spice blender.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the tea with the spices and simmer for 5 minutes
- Add the ginger root and simmer for an additional 3 minutes.
- Strain the tea into a blender, add in the coconut milk, coconut oil and date or sweetener of choice.
- Blend on high for 30 seconds. Enjoy!
