New Tea On The Block – Moringa Tea!

Prior to attending the Be:Fit exhibition, I had not heard of Moringa tree let alone that the tea existed – where had I been?!! So during the exhibition, I took a few minutes away from my stand when it was a bit quiet to visit other stands, find out what other exhibitors were showcasing and there it was – the “Miracle Tree” stand showcasing Moringa Tea, my new discovery!Apple_large

I spoke with the managing director, Aadil Datta, who told me a bit about the tea and the plant which intrigued me. So I bought a box, the apple and cinnamon flavor to try out at home and do some research on the benefits, which is what I always do when I make new discoveries.

I found there’s a lot of information and research that has been carried out to find out the benefits of Moringa plant. Some of the research have conclusive evidence and some have research indicate further study is required but what stands out are the nutritional benefits the plant possesses.

Moringa Oleifera is a tree that grows in the sub-Himalayan areas of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. It is also grown in the tropics. The Moringa tree has been nicknamed the “Tree of Life” due to its healing abilities such as: boosting immune system, reducing swelling, high blood pressure, constipation, headaches, thyroid problems, cancer and infections amongst others.

According to research into the plant, Moringa contains 46 antioxidants, 92 nutrients, 36 anti-inflammatories, 18 amino acids (9 essential amino acids), calcium and magnesium. To put this into context, it possesses:

3 times the potassium in bananas

7 times the vitamin C in oranges

4 times the vitamin A in carrots

4 times the calcium in milk

9 times the iron in spinach;

Which are all levels higher than the recommended daily intake (RDI) we require. With all the nutrients packed in this small plant, it’s no wonder that it is able to help boost and promote good health and body function. Here are some other benefits of Moringa Tea:

–       Promotes healthy circulation

–       Supports normal glucose level

–       Promotes healthy digestion

–       Boosts energy without the caffeine

–       Promotes clearer skin

–       Supports hormone levels

Having tried it myself for a few days, I have noticed an increase in my energy levels but I think it’s probably too soon talk about my observations so I’m definitely keeping an open mind and will keep enjoying the tea. I have been drinking the apple and cinnamon flavoured tea and really looking forward to trying the other seven different flavours which the company provides. The teas are available at most health food stores or can be purchased online on their website.
