Minty Green Smoothie

  • Handful spinach/kale
  • 1 cucumber
  • 2 mangoes
  • 2 sprigs of mint
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 ice cubes

Blend all ingredients in a smoothie maker or blender, and enjoy!

Cucumber: is a very good source of vitamins A and C, and folic acid. The skin is rich in fibre and a variety of minerals including magnesium and potassium. Cucumber is a top choice as a diuretic. It can help control constipation, stomach disorders and acne. The high water content, combined with its ability to balance acid, helps reduce disorders and ailments that may be a cause of over production of various acidic compounds.

Spinach heals the lining of the digestive tract, improves vision and helps to maintain healthy blood vessels. Contains vitamins B, C, K, beta-carotene and folic acid. Very good for the skin and supports liver function.

Mangoes are rich in amino acids, vitamins C and E, flavonoids, beta-carotene, niacin, calcium, iron, magnesium and potassium. Mangoes aid digestion, stimulates the immune system, cleanses and disinfects the body. They also aid in reducing the risk of cancer – this is due to the high vitamin C content and other enzymes and properties.

Mint is widely used as a digestive aid in the form of teas and culinary uses. Mint has some of the most potent antioxidant properties of all spices. These include rosmaniric acid, which slows the formation of plaque in the arteries. Mint also contains limonene, which provides protection against some cancers.
