My Chill Out Time At Zen the Spa in Dubai

One of my favourite things to do to relax is to have a spa day either alone or with friends. That is exactly one of the first things I did when I arrived in Dubai.

The first spa I visited was Zen the Spa at the Al Ghurair Rayhaan by Rotana Hotel. It was the perfect venue for a girly catch up with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while! Walking into the spa made you feel like entering an oasis of peace and tranquility. The décor and lighting of the reception area were tastefully designed, and not over-powering.

One thing to note is that Dubai is not just bright with sunshine during the day – which I love – however I Spa check in 2found the lighting in malls at night and other locations extremely bright. There are lights and sparkles everywhere!! That said my middle name is ‘Miss Bling’ (lol) although sometimes you needed sunglasses to dim the lights a little!

The staff was very welcoming and after checking in, I was offered the Zen’s signature tea, African Amber, which was a relaxing brew, then ushered in to get changed for treatments. My friend and I caught up over a Sauna and Jacuzzi, before our treatments started.

We were booked in to have the “Royal Package” which included body scrub, facial and full body massage treatments, which were utter bliss, we felt like royalty for sure – and we didn’t want to leave! During the massage, I had a warm lavender scented beaded pillow placed under my neck. That, along with the massage were so relaxing that I fell asleep. Luckily I was able to buy a scented pillow to take back to London!

So here’s the thing, generally products are a big deal for me. I’m very particular about what I use on my skin, so was happy to learn that the products used by the Zen were made from natural oils and smelt lovely. I was surprised at how bright my skin looked after the facial, which showed me how much it had been crying out for a facial (note to self: listen to body more!).

After my treatment, I was ushered into the comfortable lounge area to relax with more of the Spa’s lovely African Amber tea. The lounge area was comfortable with chaise-longue chairs and I had a little nap until my friend joined me after her treatment.

After the spa, we went down to the Hotel’s restaurant for a late lunch to complete the day before heading back to the Marina. We had a large selection of different foods to choose from – local cuisine to continental, as well as healthy options.

We visited on a Friday – a non-working and prayer day in the Emirates (Friday is also their Saturday). The locals would go to the mosque for prayers and then go out for lunch as a family. Most hotels put on Friday buffet lunch to cater for increased visitors as well as their hotel guests.

My friend thoroughly enjoyed her treatment at the Zen, and saw it as a great way to unwind and catch up. She felt so relaxed that she also had a nap.

I was in Dubai for holiday, and to attend business meetings during a three-week visit. Having the time to relax and experience an array of treatments at Zen the Spa was the perfect start to my time in Dubai. Not only did it fully relax me but it also created a sense of wellness and focus, which prepared me for my meetings in the days ahead.

As a holistic health and wellness coach, in addition to providing support in areas including nutrition, I always advise my clients to take time out of their busy schedules to pause and relax, which is of great importance for their wellbeing and happiness.

During my visit, I found out that the ruler of Dubai, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum endorsed the launch of corporate happiness and positivity initiative for the City. My experience at the Zen the Spa would be the perfect accompaniment to any individual’s health and happiness routine, corporate or otherwise.

ZenPillowIn February, I will be back in Dubai and looking forward to spending more time at the Zen the Spa, working with them on their corporate health and happiness initiative. In the meantime, I shall continue to enjoy my new lavender scented pillow!

Since my trip to Dubai, the spa have recently gone through a rebranding process and are now known as the Bodylines Fitness & Wellness Club.

Peace & Fabulous Health!

Gloria
