Many of us would like to think that we lead healthy lifestyles, but most of the time, we are not putting in the effort needed to ensure that all our health needs are met.  However, living a happy and healthy lifestyle is not as difficult many think it is.  With the proper knowledge, motivation and getting rid of some bad habits, living a healthy lifestyle can be an enjoyable journey.

Visualize your goal

Everyone knows that we need to live and stay healthy in today’s busy world. When you are healthy, you have a boost in energy, you feel better, you are more positive, and you are happier in general.  As you begin to get healthy, it can be difficult to keep your eye on the goal when you are facing the long journey ahead.  When you focus on how unhealthy you are now, and where you want to be may seem challenging, and sometimes seem like a never-ending journey.  Instead of focusing on how long it may take you to get healthy, focus on what it would be like to be healthy.

Remember the Feelings

There is often a feeling of guilt associated with being unhealthy.  Whether it was skipping an exercise routine, or indulging in an unhealthy snack, you end up not feeling too great about what you did.  However, you can turn that guilt into motivation for your health evolution.  Anytime you are tempted to sleep in and skip the exercise routine or order that takeaway – remind yourself of how bad you felt the last time and make the decision to not feel that way again.

Celebrate the Victories

We have all been in the place where we have eaten the right things, exercised properly and stuck to all our goals and objectives, but we struggle to see the small changes.  Getting healthy is not an overnight success story.  But, overtime you will start to see and feel the differences, when you start to notice these, take note of it and celebrate the small and the large victories.

Make it Fun

We have discussed that getting healthy can be an arduous journey, however, if you can find ways to make it more fun and enjoyable, you’ll have better luck with achieving your goals, short and long term.  Include friends and family in your plans, sign up for dancefit, kickboxing or swimming rather than running on a treadmill or riding a stationary bike without going anywhere.

Here’s some advice on exercise I give my clients – find an exercise or activity you love to do, and the chances are you would stick with it.  It would not be as much effort, because it’s fun for you – so give that a go and let me know how you get on. What kind of fun activities do you enjoy doing?

Plan ahead

When you plan for a holiday in advance, you always look forward to it.  Try planning your activities and meals in advance to help you stay motivated.  Planning your schedule and meals will also help you save money, save time and allow you to stress-less when it comes to shopping and cooking time.
